Last night, Brown + Storey went to ‘Toronto Together’ to connect and hear what @JoshMatlow had to say about housing in the city of Toronto, something that we are very passionate about.

We’re pleased to be a part of the fundraiser and hope that we can get involved in building housing for Toronto!

Would you prefer a “Cadillac” or a “Chevy?”

In 2011, we proposed a new Viewing Terrace for the municipality of Erieau which would provide the only publicly accessible space on Rondeau Bay.

Building the Erieau Viewing Terrace would have opened this site for viewing sunsets, fishing, launching small crafts and relaxing at the bayside for the people who live in Erieau and those who have come for a visit.

The proposal did not go through, as the price was too high by the municipality’s standards claiming the design was more of a “Cadillac,” while they were looking for a “Chevy.”

Our revitalization of Belleville’s historic downtown improves the visibility and usefulness of the city’s plentiful off-street laneways and linkages. With new material surfaces and updated street infrastructure, the redesign bolsters local businesses, creating a “landscape for making a living.”

The distinct neighbourhood near the intersection o

The distinct neighbourhood near the intersection of Carlaw Avenue and Dundas is wedged between conventional residential neighbourhoods and a historic railway corridor. Once the site of Toronto’s earliest factories, the former industrial zone has become densely populated, but the space remains unfriendly with narrow sidewalks and few meaningful public spaces.

In our study with Rodger Todhunter and Associates, we propose a number of measures to create a vibrant public realm in this quarter, including:
🔸Widening sidewalks, adding trees and bike lanes
🔸Creating an open circuit of sidewalks that connect existing park fragments
🔸Transforming the underutilized 1,000-square metre space into a public square
