Parterre Gardens

The Parterre Garden is a landscape type that was more prevalent in the earlier landscape of the Exhibition Place grounds, as open spaces were developed as “pleasure grounds” or specifically as large commons for sporting events and performances. The presentation of elaborate horticultural displays were important parts of the Exhibition experience, and were found along major pedestrian plazas and as important approaches to major buildings.
